Your journey begins with a thoughtfully structured Orientation Programme mapped to help you transition smoothly into the college environment. This welcoming initiative fosters both social and academic integration, making your first steps toward success friendly and confident.
Throughout your studies, Academic Support plays a pivotal role. The College employs a strategic approach to identify individual learning gaps and needs. Support is not just provided by a dedicated support unit, it is a team effort involving your lecturers. Together, they offer classroom assistance, peer tutoring, catch-up and extra classes, plus reshaped academic development to ensure you stay on track.
When life challenges arise outside the classroom, Personal and Social Support is available to you. The college offers a broad range of counselling services, academic counselling to set and reach your study goals, personal counselling for emotional and mental well-being, and career guidance to align your strengths with future career paths. Specialised support is also available for students with disabilities, making sure all learners have equitable access and opportunity
What does the Bursary cover?
Amounts indicated for accommodation, living allowance, transport and learning materials need to be aligned with the approved latest DHET guidelines
TVET
- Accommodation in an urban area is R24,000 per annum
- Accommodation in a peri-urban area is R18,900 per annum
- Accommodation in a rural area is R15,750 per annum
- Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) R7,350 per annum
- Transport R7000 per annum
- Incidental/personal care allowance R2900 per annum
Who Qualifies For NSFAS Funding?
- All South African citizens
- All SASSA grant recipients qualify for funding
- Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum
- A person with a disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
- Students who started studying before 2018 and whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum.
How to Apply for SEDCOL Students’ Financial Aid
To apply for your school’s Financial Aid, you must have registered with the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) following the format displayed on this portal HERE.
Follow the details below to apply for the Students’ Financial Aid.
Prospective applicants/students should apply through their school student portal by following the instructions below:
- Log on to your school’s student portal. If you have yet to have an account, Sign Up immediately.
- Once you are logged in, search for the NSFAS application, then apply with your registration number, username and password.
- From time to time, view the NSFAS Database www.nsfas.org.za to check your confirmation and clearance.
