2026 TVET College Opening and Closing Dates
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has shared the updated opening and closing dates for TVET College applications for the 2026 academic year. These dates are designed to follow the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) academic calendar, making it easier for students to plan their studies.
NSFAS Application Dates for 2026
- Annual Programs: Applications opened in January
- Trimester 2 Programs: Applications opened in May
- Semester 2 Programs: Applications opened in July
- Trimester 3 Programs: Applications will open in September
Document needed to apply to TVET Colleges
The following documents must be submitted before applying to the college:
- A unique/valid Email address and cellphone number
- 3 certified copies of the ID of the Parent/Legal Guardian
- 3 certified copies of the ID of the Learner
- South African applicants will need an ID number. Foreign applicants will need their passport numbers.
- Copy of your school qualifications (eg, Senior Certificate)
- A certified copy of your latest results/Grade 9 or Higher;
- Proof of Residence.
Foreign students

- SAQA-approved foreign qualifications
- Proof of medical insurance or cover
- Valid study permit
