Tvet Colleges In South Africa Fees

Tvet Colleges In South Africa Fees: Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is a term used to refer to the occupational nature of the courses offered at higher learning institutions. This means that TVET colleges serve the purpose of preparing learners for vocational employment opportunities that also enable them to become employers. South Africa currently has fifty registered TVET colleges, but are they tuition-free?

Studying at a public TVET college is not free, however, in order to ensure that they are accessible and affordable, the Department of Higher Education and Training subsidises 80% of the delivery costs, and loans are available to help students pay their tuition fees.

The Department of Higher Education & Training’s TVET Colleges Bursary Scheme has been established to give financial assistance to students who have the potential to succeed at NCV or NATED (Report 191) Studies, but would not be able to do so without financial aid. This scheme is administered by NSFAS (National Students Financial Aid Scheme).
