The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) offers financial assistance to students from low and middle-income families who wish to study at public universities and TVET colleges across South Africa. Students admitted to any public TVET College for the 2026 academic year can now apply for NSFAS funding. The online application process for the 2026/2027 academic year is officially open and will close on 15 November.
Eligible students are encouraged to apply early to secure financial support for their studies.

What Does NSFAS Cover?

Bursary Funding

The NSFAS bursary covers various study-related expenses to help students focus on their education without financial stress. The funding includes:

Who Qualifies For Tvet College Nsfas Online Application 2026/2027

The NSFAS bursary is available to all South African citizens and permanent residents whose combined household income does not exceed R350 000 per year. For applicants living with disabilities, the income limit is R600 000 per year.

Who Cannot Apply for NSFAS?

Students who already receive full study funding from sources other than NSFAS.
Students who have completed an undergraduate qualification and wish to pursue another undergraduate qualification.
Students who have already earned a certificate and want to study for a second certificate qualification.
Students studying at private institutions.
Students enrolled in qualifications not approved by DHET or accredited by SAQA.

Please attach certified copies of the following documents:

NSFAS Declaration Form:

This form must be completed by the Principal of the school or a Social Worker. (Applicable to Non-SASSA applicants only).

Orphan and Vulnerable Child Declaration Form:

For applicants under 18 years of age, this form must be completed by a Social Worker. (Applicable to Non-SASSA applicants only).

NSFAS Consent Form:

This form must be completed by the applicant and/or their parent(s), guardian, or spouse. (SASSA recipients do not need to complete this form. Applicable to Non-SASSA applicants only.)

Proof of Legal Guardianship:

If an applicant has indicated that they have a legal guardian, they must provide proof of guardianship issued by the court.

Guardianship (Not Court Appointed):

Applicants with non-court-appointed guardians must provide an NSFAS Declaration Form.

Disability Annexure Form:

This form must be completed by a certified and registered medical doctor or another qualified professional (such as an optometrist, physiotherapist, or head of a disability unit) who can confirm the student’s disability status, describe the type of support required, and explain how the student will benefit from the recommended support.
