To track your funding status or manage your application, you must register or re-register a MyNSFAS account on the official NSFAS website. The NSFAS online application will open in November and close in January 2026, so applicants are encouraged to complete their submissions as early as possible to avoid missing the deadline.

Who qualifies for SWGC NSFAS Bursaries?
- All South African citizens
- All SASSA grant recipients qualify for funding
- Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum
- A person with a disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
- Students who started studying before 2018 and whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum.
REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS DURING THE NSFAS APPLICATION PROCESS
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will require more information from you to process your application, so you need to provide the following supporting documents to ensure your application is successful.
- NSFAS Declaration Form: completed by the school principal or social worker. (Non-SASSA only)
- Orphan and Vulnerable Child Declaration Form: completed by a social worker for applicants under 18. (Non-SASSA only)
- NSFAS Consent Form: signed by the applicant and/or parent, guardian, or spouse. (Not needed for SASSA recipients)
- If the applicant has a legal guardian, court-issued proof is required.
- For non-court-appointed guardians, submit the NSFAS Declaration Form.
How to Apply for the SWGC NSFAS Online Application
If you would like to apply for NSFAS online, follow the steps below:
- Visit the NSFAS website: www.nsfas.org.za online
- Then, you have to click on the “MyNSFAS” tab
- After that, you create your myNSFAS account
- After creating myNSFAS account, you then have to click on the “Apply” tab
- Answer the following questions that you see on your screen
- Update all your personal information
- Upload all the required supporting documents
- Lastly, click on “Submit” to send your application for review.
