Wescol TVET College Accreditation

As one of the 50 public TVET colleges under the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET), WestCol provides students with accessible, practical, and industry-focused education.
The college is fully accredited and its programs are recognized nationally. WestCol offers National Certificates in areas like Business, Engineering, and General Studies.

These programs are accredited by the relevant Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs), ensuring that the qualifications students earn are valid, respected by employers, and accepted for further education. To support assessments, WestCol operates registered examination centers at its campuses. The following steps should be followed:

• Please Note: All first-time applicants MUST complete the PLACEMENT ASSESSMENT in full. This is NOT a pass-or-fail test.
• Complete the APPLICATION SCORING POINTS (APS) SYSTEM
• You will then be directed to the APPLICATION PORTAL.
• Any false information provided may lead to your application being disqualified.
• Please keep your login and password details safe as you will need them to track your application status on the portal.

No walk-in applications are available!

• Submit documentation – you will receive notifications via email/SMS about your progress.
• Please read the minimum requirements before you apply.
• Westcol reserves the right to discontinue a programme based on insufficient student numbers or to move it to another campus.
• You need an active e-mail account as we will be communicating with you through emails.
• You must continuously check your email to ensure that you do not miss any communication.
• All documents to be submitted should be originally certified copies and the certification should not be older than 6 months.

Westcol TVET College Application Requirement

• Grade 12 certificate/Statement of results/Latest school report/DHET certificate
• ID document
• Proof of residence

Westcol TVET College Foreign Student Study Permit

The following documents must be submitted with the BI-1738 application form:
1. A passport valid for no less than 30 days after the expiry of the intended visit
2. Payment of the prescribed fee
3. A vaccination certificate, if required by the Act
4. Proof of financial means to cover envisaged living expenses during the sojourn in the Republic and to also pay
for the tuition fees. This should be in the form of:
a. bank statements
b. cash available,
c. or travellers’ cheques
5. Proof of medical cover
6. A cash deposit equivalent to the value of a return ticket.
7. In the case of African students, an undertaking from the relevant government to take full responsibility of the
student and to pay all costs, should it become necessary to deport the student
8. Medical and radiology reports
9. An unabridged birth certificate in the case of minors.
10. In the case of a minor, the particulars of the person in the Republic of South Africa who will act as the learner’s
guardian and a letter from such person confirming guardianship
11. Consent from both parents for your stay in South Africa, or from the parent who has sole custody, along with
proof of sole custody
12. An official letter from the educational institution, where you intend to study, confirming provisional acceptance
and the duration of the course.
13. Proof of medical cover renewed annually for the period of study with a medical scheme registered in terms of
the Medical Schemes Act.
14. If you are 18 years and older, a police clearance certificate from each country in which you resided for 12
months or longer since the age of 18 years is required. This should be submitted with the application

•  Four original certified copies of the student’s ID.
•  Original certified copy of parent’s/guardian’s/spouses’ ID.
•  Original certified copies of the ID of each member of the household.
•  One copy of the original certified copy of parent’s/guardian’s/spouses’ payslips.
•  One copy of the most recent school report or statement of results.
•  Proof of death in event that parents are deceased.
•  Affidavit of parents/guardians if they are unemployed
•  Transport Allowance
