History of WestCol TVET College
Western College for Further Education and Training, better known as WestCol, was established in 2002 when Carletonville and Randfontein Technical Colleges merged. Soon after, a new logo was created to reflect the college’s vision as a dynamic institution of unity and opportunity. In 2004, WestCol took over the Krugersdorp and Krugersdorp-West campuses, while the Carletonville Campus was transferred to the Northwest Province due to changes in provincial borders during that year’s elections.
Four years later, in 2008, the Carletonville Campus was returned to WestCol when the borders were adjusted back to their previous positions, and Merafong Municipality was once again part of Gauteng. Also in 2008, WestCol secured its current corporate office building, strengthening its administrative base. The college continued to expand, and in 2015 it opened a satellite campus in Westonaria, extending its services to more students in the region.
