Is Tvet Colleges Free: Do you pay fees at TVET College?

In South Africa, there are fifty registered and certified public TVET institutes with 364 campuses located throughout the country’s rural and metropolitan areas. The Continuing Education and Training Act 16 of 2006, which allows for the building and operation of public TVET colleges, is administered by the Department of Higher Education and Training.

Is Tvet Colleges Free? Studying at a public TVET college is not free, however, in order to ensure that they are accessible and affordable, the Department of Higher Education and Training subsidises 80% of the delivery costs, and loans are available to help students pay their tuition fees. One may also be curious as to who qualifies to study at a TVET college.

 

Who qualifies to attend a TVET College?

A TVET college has a variety of advantages, including a strong focus on student employability, with a portion of the curriculum requiring students to complete experiential training (internships and apprenticeships), which can help you develop experience for your CV. TVET Colleges, which are part of the Higher Education system, accept students who have completed Grades 9, 10, 11, or 12 in high school. TVET College courses are also open to post-graduates from universities seeking additional practical experience.

Document needed to apply to Tvet Colleges

The following documents must be submitted prior to applying to the college:

• A unique/valid Email address and cellphone number
• 3 certified copies of the ID of the Parent/Legal Guardian
• 3 certified copies of the ID of the Learner
• South African applicants will need an ID number. Foreign applicants will need their passport numbers.
• Copy of your school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate)
• A certified copy of your latest results/Grade 9 or Higher;
• Proof of Residence.

Foreign students

• SAQA-approved foreign qualifications
• Proof of medical insurance or cover
• Valid study permit

Tvet College Application Fee

College tuition is subsidized by the government to the tune of 80%, making it affordable. Those who cannot afford the tuition can apply for bursaries through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).

In South Africa, the cost of applying to veterinary colleges is very inexpensive. The cost of your application is always decided by the type of program and course you choose, as well as the program’s duration.
