This college was officially formed on April 1, 2002, following the consolidation of several state-supported institutions, including Bloemfontein College, Hillside View College, Thaba Nchu College, and Kagisanong College of Education. Through this amalgamation, the college built on a legacy of public service and widened its reach across urban, peri‑urban, and rural areas.
