How Many TVET Colleges Are In Ghana

Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) plays an important role in equipping young people with the practical skills and knowledge needed for the job market. In Ghana, TVET has become increasingly important as the country continues to focus on industrialization, entrepreneurship, and youth employment. Over the past few years, the Ghanaian government, through the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET), has invested significantly in improving TVET institutions, upgrading infrastructure, and aligning training with modern industry demands.

Currently, Ghana boasts over 200 public and private TVET institutions spread across all 16 regions. These include technical institutes, vocational training centers, and specialized colleges that provide a broad range of programs in fields such as engineering, construction, hospitality, agriculture, fashion, and information technology. Some of these institutions fall under the Ministry of Education, while others operate under various ministries like Employment and Labour Relations, Trade and Industry, and Agriculture. In addition, there are several private institutions and faith-based organizations contributing to TVET education.

A key development in the sector is the establishment of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Service, aimed at streamlining the management and coordination of these institutions. With this, the goal is to ensure that TVET graduates not only have practical skills but also industry-relevant certifications that meet international standards.
