When students think about studying at a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college, a common question that comes up is whether the college offers student accommodation. Having access to safe, affordable, and nearby housing plays an important role in making student life easier and supporting academic success. Elangeni TVET College is actively addressing student accommodation needs through its participation in the NSFAS Accommodation Pilot Project.

This initiative seeks to provide secure, dependable, and convenient housing options for students in the TVET sector, recognizing the often-substandard living conditions many students encounter. The project uses a platform managed by Xequal, which connects private accommodation providers with students requiring housing. Through this platform, Elangeni TVET College has successfully placed approximately 900 students in quality residences that meet their needs. Currently, specific campuses are participating in this pilot project, and there are plans to expand it to all eight of the college’s campuses, with Inanda, Ntuzuma, and Ndwedwe Campuses identified as the next potential additions.

Additionally, a ladies’ hostel is available at the Pinetown Campus, and interested students can inquire directly with the campus for more details. Elangeni TVET College is dedicated to broadening this project to ensure all its students have access to suitable accommodation, continuously collaborating with Xequal and private accommodators to increase housing availability across all campuses. This commitment aims to foster a supportive environment that enhances the overall educational experience for students
