*Meaning of Tvet Colleges
Technical and Vocational Education and Training refers to the vocational or occupational nature of programmes offered, meaning that it prepares learners for a specific job, a number of employment possibilities, or self-employment. They mainly train young people to develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes that are needed in the labour market.
They serve young people who want to enrol for vocational programmes after Grade 9 or after finishing school with a Grade 12, as well as learners who want to complete their schooling. TVET colleges were introduced in South Africa as an effort to make technical and vocational education and training (TVET) more accessible to all.
They offer a wide range of skills development programmes that aim to provide students with the practical skills and knowledge needed to enter the workforce. There are 50 public TVET colleges spread across the country, each with its own focus areas and specialisations. - Selected UNISA and other qualifications registered on the NQF,

Documents Needed To Apply for TVET Colleges
Before applying to the college, the following documents are required:
- 3 certified copies of the ID of the Learner
- 3 certified copies of the ID of the Parent/Legal Guardian
- One ID-size photo
- Copy Certified of the latest school report/Grade 9 or Higher
- A unique Email address and cellphone number
Tvet Colleges Application Process
- All new applicants must complete the Placement Screening Test before applying. We will not process applications without doing a placement screening test first.
- You can apply online by visiting the College Online Application portal
- Applicants can also visit the school to book an online application session.
- Applicants can apply for NSFAS Funding or search for other available bursaries.
- You can use either your smartphone, tablet or computer to apply online via the student i-Enabler, using your PIN and student number to log on
- Applicants should apply for admission to the current level and the next level of their application
- Make sure you upload all the required documents and pay the necessary fees.

- TVET colleges develop practical and other skills for a wide variety of jobs. The colleges maintain close links with key role players in industry and commerce to ensure that their courses are responsive to labour market needs.
- The entrepreneurship skills acquired at TVET colleges can be used to start businesses, e.g. in catering, building construction, Information Technology, tourism, or hairdressing.
