NSFAS sponsored by the Department of Higher Education & Training (DHET) bursary scheme provides access to vocational education and training at public FET Colleges for talented students who are financially needy. Cape College offers many financial assistance options to students in need of financial assistance to study at the college. The NSFAS bursary covers food, accommodation, tuition cost, monthly allowance, transport etc. However, the funding is limited and that very strict terms and conditions apply. The DHET /NSFAS has developed a set of standards that have been integrated into their official bursary evaluation system. The specifics of this are classified, and it is based on a number of criteria. The funds will be sent directly to the College on behalf of successful candidates. They are not compensated to the students directly. The award is not repayable to NSFAS, and beneficiaries are not obligated to work the bursary back after they have completed their degrees.
Who Qualifies for Cape College NSFAS Fund
The DHET bursary is available to a specific group of people. below is a list of students eligible for the scheme;
- Only South African Citizens are eligible for this bursary scheme
- A student must be registered or intend to register on an NC(V) or Report 191 (NATED) programme
- Financially needy students with academic potential
- Students must have Evidence of good academic performance must be provided for all Levels.
Cape College NSFAS Fund Application Requirements
- NC(V) or Report 191 programme and Level registered for;
- Personal details (including contact numbers, email addresses, etc.);
- Certified Copy of Identity Document;
- Applicant’s current home address;
- Address while studying;
- Postal Address;
- Salary and other income information of the parent/guardian on whom the student is dependent (pensioners should submit an affidavit as proof);
- Details of next of kin (ID numbers, first names and surname, contact details and relationship to student);
- Details of parent(s) and/or guardian(s) (ID numbers, first names and surname and contact details);
- Residential address/addresses of parent(s) and / or guardian(s);
- Sworn affidavits from parents/guardians if they are unemployed;
- Certified death certificates if parents/guardians are deceased;
- Number of family members in the household (include their certified ID copies); and
- Age and educational status (complete primary, incomplete secondary –Grade level for those still in school, complete secondary, diploma/certificate/degree) of members in the household.
- Provide all required documentation and evidence in full. (Only certified copies will be accepted.)
- Complete a bursary agreement, subject to approval.
How To Apply For Cape College NSFAS Fund
- Go to www.nsfas.org.za and click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab
- Create a myNSFAS account
- Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab and answer the questions on the screen
- Upload the required supporting documents then click on ‘submit
