Rosebank Teaching Courses Practice

The Teaching Practice module gives students valuable hands-on experience in real classroom settings. It allows them to observe mentor teachers and understand their daily roles, responsibilities, classroom management techniques, and assessment methods. Students also learn about school systems, teacher collaboration, and how schools operate within their communities.

Through this module, students apply the theories, principles, and concepts they have learned during their studies. Teaching Practice is a compulsory component of the four-year qualification, and it takes place every academic year. IIE Rosebank College assigns each student to a partner school to ensure a diverse and enriching learning experience.

During each placement, students are assessed by their lecturer or supervisor at the school to evaluate their progress and professional growth. The college carefully schedules these sessions, and students must complete a total of 22 weeks of teaching experience over the duration of the programme.

The breakdown of the Teaching Practice is as follows:

  • Year 1: 1 week of classroom observation and 3 weeks of practical teaching
  • Year 2: 5 weeks of practical teaching
  • Year 3: 6 weeks of practical teaching
  • Year 4: 8 weeks of practical teaching

This structured approach ensures that every Rosebank College education student gains the confidence, competence, and real-world skills needed to excel as a professional teacher.
