Ekurhuleni West TVET College (EWC) is one of South Africa’s leading public institutions for technical and vocational training, offering quality education that equips students with practical skills for the workplace. Established under the Further Education and Training Colleges Act No. 16 of 2006 and in line with the FET Act No. 98 of 1998, the college has been officially recognized as a higher education provider within Gauteng. Its roots trace back to an Extraordinary Provincial Gazette issued on 7 December 2001 by the MEC for Education in Gauteng Province, cementing its role in advancing accessible education.
Located within the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality in Gauteng, Ekurhuleni West TVET College is made up of six campuses spread across Alberton, Boksburg, Germiston, Kathorus (serving Katlehong, Vosloorus, and Thokoza), Kempton Park, and Tembisa. The name “Ekurhuleni West” reflects its positioning in the western part of the municipality, ensuring access to students across diverse communities.
Since 2007, the college has been offering the National Certificate (Vocational) NC(V) programmes, expanding over the years to include NC(V) Levels 2, 3, and 4. Today, EWC provides a broad range of courses such as Finance, Economics and Accounting, Business Administration, Marketing, Management, Tourism, Hospitality, Transport and Logistics, as well as Engineering and Information Technology. Specialized fields like Civil Engineering, Electrical Infrastructure, Construction, Mechatronics, Computer Science, and Education and Development are also available.
