So, when do TVET colleges open their online applications for 2026? While exact dates can differ from one college to another, most TVET colleges usually open their online application portals between August and October of the year before, in this case, between August and October 2025. Some colleges may open earlier or later, and closing dates also differ, so it is important to regularly check the official website of the college you are interested in.

Additionally, many colleges offer multiple application phases or allow for walk-in applications if space is available. However, applying early gives you the best chance of securing your preferred course and campus.

Online Application Date For TVET Colleges

In South Africa, the online application season for TVET colleges normally opens on March 1st and ends on May 30th. Meanwhile, Tvet Colleges enrollment dates may differ based on the institution to which you apply, the subject to which you apply, and the semester in which you enrol.

Document Needed to Apply to TVET Colleges

The following documents must be submitted before applying to the college:

• A unique/valid Email address and cellphone number
• 3 certified copies of the ID of the Parent/Legal Guardian
• 3 certified copies of the ID of the Learner
• South African applicants will need an ID number. Foreign applicants will need their passport numbers.
• Copy of your school qualifications (eg, Senior Certificate)
• A certified copy of your latest results/Grade 9 or Higher;
• Proof of Residence.

Foreign students

• Certified copies of the passport
• SAQA-approved foreign qualifications
• Proof of medical insurance or cover
• Valid study permit

TVET College Application Fee

College tuition is subsidized by the government to the tune of 80%, making it affordable. Those who cannot afford the tuition can apply for bursaries through the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).
