How To Apply for NSFAS
- A person with a disability with a combined household income of not more than R600 000 per year or

- SASSA recipients automatically qualify for financial eligibility

Requirements Needed to complete your NSFAS application:
To process your application, determine whether supporting papers are needed, and make sure you have all the necessary information, NSFAS may seek additional information from you:
- Your parents, guardians’, or spouse’s proof of income
- If you are a SASSA grant recipient, no proof of income will be required
- Applicants with a disability must submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form. Click here to download
- An applicant who is recognized as a Vulnerable Child by the Department of Social Development must provide a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form. Click here to download.
- ID copies of parents, guardian, or spouse (If applicable)
- Your proof of income or 1 year’s IRP5 (if applicable)
- Your own cellphone number and email address
- Copy of your ID or birth certificate
Who is eligible for the NSFAS 2026 Applications?
- R350 000 or less in household income per annum
- R600 000 or less in household income per annum for individuals living with a disability.
- Applicants with disabilities must submit a completed and signed disability Annexure form A
- Students who are South African citizens
- Students planning on studying or currently studying at a Public University/TVET College
- SASSA recipients

NSFAS 2026 Applications Process
- Log onto www.NSFAS.ORG.ZA. Alternatively, you can apply through the TVET college bursary office or the NSFAS head office
- Click on register. The student must capture an email and cell phone number where they can readily receive a confirmation email/SMS to continue with the application process
- Complete the required fields-ID number, cellphone number, and email address. Only valid South African ID information will be accepted
- Upload supporting documents:
- Certified ID document
- Parents/guardians’ certified ID documents
- Matric results
- Parents/guardians/spouses’ proof of income
- Accept terms and conditions-Once students click on apply will be submitted successfully
